Introduction to Media and Information Literacy (Lab) Part 2

Edmodo's Acceptable Use Policy

We discussed Edmodo's Acceptable Use Policy. We all know the Terms of Service right? It appears every time when we start to use or install a specific tool, a product, or an application. However, most people ignore the Terms of Service due to being lengthy. Without reading the Terms of Service, one is susceptible to having problems in terms of using an application, product, etc.

Due to this, I learnt the importance of the Terms of Service as a guide and agreement to using something. One must be responsible in using the application Edmodo since its Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy have a lot of content to divulge in.

Creative Commons

Creative Commons is an organization built to share and expand the range of creative content available for others legally. It releases several licenses called Creative Commons Licenses. A license such as this is used when an author or a publisher of any specific content allows other individuals to share, give, and use the content or work the publisher created. Creative content that uses this license includes books, plays, movies, music, articles, photographs, blogs, and websites.

To know more about Creative Commons, here is a video that gives a discussion of the pertained organization.

What I learnt from all of this

I learnt that creating content is not as easy as pie. There are a lot of things that needed to be thought out and planned. Because of this, I realize how difficult it is to create content. Even writing a blog, I still need to recognize copyright, putting in sources and links, even when using pictures or videos. I also learnt how to be a responsible individual in using media and information, especially since I use both all the time. Whether it would be writing a blog, posting a picture, shooting a video, or creating any type of content, we must abide to the rules and regulations in creating content.
